Looping in OLSRv2 in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, Loop Suppession and Loop Correction (2009)
Journal Article
Speakman, L., Owada, Y., & Mase, K. (2009). Looping in OLSRv2 in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks, Loop Suppession and Loop Correction. IEICE Transactions on Communications, E92-B(4), 1210-1221. https://doi.org/10.1587/transcom.e92.b.1210

Transient routing loops have been observed to form in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks running the OLSRv2 proactive link-state routing protocol. The packets falling into loops impact the surrounding network thus degrading throughput even though only a small pr... Room temperature operation of subwavelength metallo-dielectric lasers (2009)
Presentation / Conference Contribution

Lasing is demonstrated in optically pumped InGaAsP-SiO2-aluminum structures, where both the resonator and the optical mode are subwavelength in all three dimensions. In the smallest case, a 550nm diameter InGaAsP disk exhibits lasing at 1390nm.

Predicting functional upstream open reading frames in Saccharomyces cerevisiae (2009)
Journal Article
Selpi, S., Bryant, C., Kemp, G., Sarv, J., Kristiansson, E., & Sunnerhagen, P. (2009). Predicting functional upstream open reading frames in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. BMC Bioinformatics, 10, 451. https://doi.org/10.1186/1471-2105-10-451

BACKGROUND: Some upstream open reading frames (uORFs) regulate gene expression (i.e., they are functional) and can play key roles in keeping organisms healthy. However, how uORFs are involved in gene regulation is not yet fully understood. In order t... Read More about Predicting functional upstream open reading frames in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Better classifiers for credit scoring: a comparison study between self organizing maps (SOM) and support vector machine (SVM) (2009)
Presentation / Conference
Shahlaii Moghada, A., Shalbafzadeh, A., & Saraee, M. (2009, December). Better classifiers for credit scoring: a comparison study between self organizing maps (SOM) and support vector machine (SVM). Presented at 3rd International Conference on Communications and Information Technology, Vouliagmeni, Athens, Greece

Credit scoring has become an increasingly important area for financial institutions. Self Organizing Maps (SOM) and Support Vector Machine(SVM) are two techniques of data mining which are being used in different applications of businesses. In this p... Comparing the end to end latency of an immersive collaborative environment and a video conference (2009)
Book Chapter
Roberts, D., Duckworth, T., Moore, C., Wolff, R., & O'Hare, J. (2009). Comparing the end to end latency of an immersive collaborative environment and a video conference. In 2009 13th IEEE/ACM International Symposium on Distributed Simulation and Real Time Applications. IEEE. https://doi.org/10.1109/DS-RT.2009.43

Latency in a communication system can result in
confusing a conversation through loss of causality as people
exchange verbal and non-verbal nuances. This paper compares
true end-to-end latencies across an immersive virtual
environment and a video... Read More about Comparing the end to end latency of an immersive collaborative environment and a video conference.
