The research aimed to investigate the impact of The Academic Development Services which is available to first year undergraduate students in The Higher Education Centre of a North West Further Education College. Through exploring the impact of this provision, as well as student perceptions and utilisation of the service, allowed for a detailed examination of how such support can be used to aid in student performance, retention, and progression. Using mixed-methods, this small study highlights effective strategies that are currently implemented within the University Centre and demonstrates the significance of ensuring academic development services availability to increase student confidence and overall success.
