Abstract
Studies revealed that despite receiving treatment, the majority of individuals with patellofemoral pain (PFP) suffer from persistent complaints, indicating that current treatments fail to prevent the chronicity of symptoms. During a consensus meeting at the 5th International Patellofemoral Pain Research Retreat in Manchester 2015 international researchers developed guidelines for a comprehensive rehabilitation programme. Since the guidelines are very recent, no study investigated the effects of the recommended rehabilitation programme on lower limb biomechanics, quadriceps strength, function and pain in individuals with PFP.
