Abstract

This paper aims to study and explore post disaster flood event at a public hospital in Malaysia. A literature review and content analysis on newspaper articles were conducted to evaluate post disaster flood impacts at public hospitals in Malaysia. In addition, in-depth interviews with the experts who directly involved with the management and administration of public hospital are also being conducted, and the analysis of those is not available in this version of the working paper. As such this working paper is based on the secondary data both in the form of literature review and analysis of newspaper article. The findings of the study indicate that the operational impact is the most significant flood related impact on Malaysian public hospitals. The next most significant impacts are health and physical impact followed by economical, social and psychological impacts.
