Abstract

Action learning will be used as a research methodology to learn more effectively and
systematically about the practice of evaluation in the Revans Institute.
Sharing and questioning the current practice of a diverse staff group involved in a
variety of action learning based commercial projects & qualification programmes will
illuminate a rich source of experience that can be further interrogated by comparison
with practices elsewhere in Salford University and the literature.
The material thus generated and its subsequent analysis will be represented back to
practitioners and critical friends in order to test its validity and applicability.
By monitoring the whole process action learning 19s contribution to practitioner
research will be explained. In addition to the personal learning of the project leaders
concerning their evaluation practice, there will be organisational learning for the
Revans Institute and other colleagues in the university and there will be a
contribution to knowledge about evaluation.
