Abstract

Semantic Resources (SRs) such as ontologies and taxonomies are used in many sectors for various purposes. In the Construction domain they are used to facilitate software application inter-working, and improve communication and understanding among the various stakeholders operating on a project. This paper describes the methodology used in the FUNSIEC project to facilitate integration and interoperability among the various SRs used in the Construction domain. A service-based architecture is proposed to better exploit the variety of SRs in use in the sector, and facilitate the development of a new generation of electronic services enabled by the proposed infrastructure.
