In this keynote lecture we present several recent CFD simulations of complex aerospace fluid dynamics- specifically 3 cases: rocket module splashdown, jet engine gas dynamics and rocket methane combustion and flame dynamics. The ANSYS FLUENT/CFX platform is utilized for all these simulations and discretization, meshing, boundary conditions, convergence and in particular visualization of velocity, pressure, temperature, vorticity, mass fraction fields are all given. A brief note on the presenter’s hero, Prof. Dr. Theodore Von Karman (founder of Caltech’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory) is also included. Some future CFD pathways in helicopter aero-acoustics, rotor aerodynamics and quad/hexa/octo/copter UAV vortex flows are also outlined.
