Abstract

Salford has a long-standing tradition of providing professionally orientated programmes. Our graduates will play a leading role in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of policy and practice initiatives.
The UoS Education and Employability Strategy sets out our aspirations of how the future needs of a diverse student population will be met. More than ever, society needs highly skilled professionals to manage current and emerging challenges. This poster spotlights industry engagement and authentic assessment and their role in Lifewide learning through experience of a L7 Professional Practice module.
Administration of the Belbin Team Roles Self Perception Inventory assists students to understand themselves and identify how they may behave in a team environment and opportunities for development. Students then work as part of a team on a client-based project relevant to their degree discipline.
This module provides opportunities for students to develop a range of skills and aptitudes including negotiation of project terms of reference, research design, data collection and analysis, professional communication, project management and professional networking. Assessment consists of a portfolio of team and individual components.
Qualitative analysis of the student voice demonstrates this to be good preparation for the world of work as students develop their identity as early career professionals.
