Abstract
At a recent HEPI guest panel, it was acknowledged that learning and teaching scholarly practices, which are core to many university visions and critical to providing an excellent student experience, are often less visible than traditional academic research. The University of Salford is committed to providing a truly inclusive environment; our vision places the student at the 'core' of our strategy and our institutional initiative Enabling Student Success. We recognise that we have a dedicated and passionate workforce working tirelessly to enhance the student experience by developing innovative practices and transformational pedagogies. Despite the many examples of scholarly activity and practice emerging across the institution, creating a critical mass without a pedagogical research structure is challenging. In 2021 Salford's first Learning and Technology Enhancement Centre (LTEC) was created to provide a hub of excellence for innovation in academic practice and L&T leadership and to showcase/nurture best practice. LTEC's vision is to be a nationally recognised centre of excellence within HE. To this end, we have recently facilitated an L&T scholarly group to showcase, support and empower staff to disseminate L&T practice. This presentation synthesises the findings from a recent L&T 'gap analysis' of the institutional repository. The focus was to determine critical mass within learning and teaching scholarly activity, research and practice between Jan 2020 and April 2023. This would enable a future network, community of practices to support and disseminate outstanding achievements, inspirational learning and authentic development, thus enhancing the learning and teaching research nexus.
