Abstract
This paper presents three XR (Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality) case studies that showcased knowledge transfer between Academia and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Developed under the UK-based Centre for Digital In-novation (CDI), these projects focused on accelerating digital technology adop-tion. The CDI supported SMEs by translating R&D into practical solutions, fos-tering innovation, and enhancing digital skills through online platforms. The wid-er initiative collaborated with four universities and industry experts. Many SMEs were offered expert support in AI, cybersecurity, industrial digitalization, and immersive tech. The case studies will demonstrate how XR can augment SME practices and the challenges they face.
