Dr Michael Lomas
Biography | I am the Head of Psychology, as well as an Environmental Psychologist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford. In my role as Head of Psychology, I lead a large team of highly qualified academics, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment that promotes excellence in teaching and learning, research, and industry and public engagement. I am also a Research Associate of the Sustainable Housing & Urban Studies Unit (SHUSU), an award-winning research department that seeks to understand complex social issues and work towards social justice and environmental sustainability within the urban environment. |

Research Interests | As a psychological researcher, I seek to identify pathways to human flourishing in various environmental contexts. My current research streams include urban-environmental interventions, light and noise pollution, the restorative effects of nature, climate/eco anxiety, and sustainable and active travel solutions. |
Teaching and Learning | I have over a decade of experience as a professional educator, recognised with a fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. I hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education, and a PhD. |
