University of Salford Institutional Repository (USIR) policies

USIR is an Open Access showcase for the published research output of the university. Our collection contains a wide range of research across multiple formats and subject areas, including but not limited to journal articles, monographs and chapters, conference proceedings, and theses.

The University of Salford Open Access Policy

The full Open Access policy is available at https://www.salford.ac.uk/library/open-research/open-access/university-of-salford-open-access-policy

  1. The policy sets out open access publishing requirements for all research outputs produced by staff and postgraduate (PGR) students, including all peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers authored or co-authored by our staff and PGR students and accepted for publication.
  2. Under the policy staff and postgraduate research students must deposit journal articles or conference contributions in conference proceedings with an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) into USIR at the point of acceptance for publication, and no later than three months after that date. The version of a paper that must be deposited is the author's accepted manuscript i.e. the final version submitted by the author(s) before they received formal acceptance for publication.
  3. Wherever publishing contracts and copyright permit, and in all cases mandated by funder requirements, authors should make journal articles and conference contributions available under an open license, preferably a Creative Commons (CC-BY 4.0) license.

USIR Deposit Agreement

The full USIR Deposit Agreement is available at https://www.salford.ac.uk/library/open-research/usir-university-of-salford-institutional-repository

The University of Salford Institutional Repository (USIR) supports the long term preservation of, and free access to, research material produced by members of the University of Salford. To undertake this role, USIR staff need permission to store, copy and manipulate the material held in USIR in order to ensure that it can be preserved and made available in the future.

This Deposit Agreement is designed to give USIR administrators the right to do this and to confirm that the depositor has the right to submit the material to USIR. The Agreement is non-exclusive, and the depositor does not give away any of their rights to USIR.
