Abstract
Migration scholarship is dominated by studies of international human mobility. The investigation of internal mobility of immigrants remains a low priority among students of migration (Ram and Shin 1999: 150). And while the theoretical divide between international and internal migration is known (Skeldon 2006), the volume of internal migration is unquestionably larger than that of the international movements (see, for example, Deshingkar (2006), Skeldon (2006) on China and India).
