Abstract
Emerging and social media populates online sites and applications with substantial limitations for cultivating creative production and constructive consumption of media. We analyze transaction structures in peer-to-peer media exchanges and current media service models. The presented architecture leverages the current landscape in emerging media and cloud services then substantially extends it towards distributed and collaborative multimedia authoring. The architecture is centered on a communication layer that mediates display clients, CDNS, user interaction, display scheduling, and asynchronous processes for procedural events requiring media signal processing. We prioritize real-time and multimodal interaction with heterogeneous media types including IoT and procedural authoring capacity for system implementation. The international project, Global Digital City is introduced as an application case. GDC is an interactive documentary network project for young people around the world to share and co-produce stories about their cities. To support such project adequately, 7 dimensions of system interactivity have been identified and presented.
