Abstract

This study reports on the findings based on observations
from sites with parallel and angle parking layouts. The
main parameters under consideration were the
manoeuvre time for parking or unparking and the gap
acceptance to merge into the traffic stream when
leaving a parking stall. The results showed that the
design of on-street parking layouts strongly affects
drivers’ parking and unparking behaviour. Alternative
suggestions to the design of parking stalls were made
depending on local conditions.
