Abstract

Over the last 20 years, advances in digital technologies have had the potential to expand our learning community spaces in ways that are unbounded by location, time, or physical presence. These technologies range from the basic use of managed learning environments to provide easy access to learning materials through to immersive reality in which education revolves primarily around the digital platform. Learning is both a social and spatial experience and as learning technologies continue to develop, our higher education environments can be easily transferred across a range of technological communities.
