Abstract

Monitoring of multidirectional speed training is important not only for the development of the range of relevant qualities (speed, change-of-direction speed, agility, deceleration ability, etc.) but also for monitoring loading of high-intensity multidirectional speed activities to guard against potential injury. This chapter examines strategies and technologies to monitor sprint and change-of-direction training through critically reviewing literature, leading to practical suggestions of how to effectively monitor multidirectional speed training with athletes predominantly in field-based sports.
