Abstract
This books fills a gap in reflective political science literature, but adopts a different focus to the usual thematic debates. It captures the people behind the contributions, their careers and their intellectual journeys. Moreover, in focusing on those early pioneers (born mainly int he 1920s and 1930s) whose research laid the foundations for the development of the discipline, the book (with the previous two volumes) acts as a reminder to today's political scientist of the giants on whose shoulders they stand.
