Abstract
Nigeria’s film and video industry, popularly known as Nollywood has grown to become the second largest film industry in the world. In Nigeria, the film and video industry is dominated by male filmmakers and has often been criticized for the negative portrayal of women in films. In my research, I shine the beam on women directors in Nigeria and how their films are either reinforcing or challenging stereotypes. I will be looking at what the female directors have to say about marriage and relationships, motherhood, women in domestic life, women in the workforce and social class in their films
