This book uncovers the evolution of Britain's intelligence community from its modern-day origins during the Edwardian spy scares, through two world wars and the Cold War and up to the end of the twentieth century.
Exploring a century of British intelligence, the book sheds light on the secret reviews of the agencies, looking at how they operated, their wider relationship with Whitehall departments and other factors such as recruitment, funding and internal Whitehall oversight.
