Biography Dr Ashley Weinberg is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in Psychology specialising in organisational and job-related factors contributing to employee well-being. He has published six books, spanning mental health in the workplace and political psychology, as well as producing a number of influential reports. The latter include ‘Psychology at Work: Improving productivity and well-being in the workplace’ co-authored with Professor Nancy Doyle and launched by the British Psychological Society in Parliament (2017), and ‘Modernising Parliament: Supporting the well-being of MPs’ staff’ (2021 and 2023) with the MPs’ Staff Wellness Working Group. The latter resulted in an invitation to give evidence before the UK Parliament Speaker’s Conference on the employment conditions of Members’ staff which are undergoing reform.

As inaugural Chair of the British Psychological Society Political Psychology Section and editor of ‘The Psychology of Politicians’ and ‘Psychology of Democracy: Of the people, by the people, for the people’ (both published with Cambridge University Press), Ashley is keen to promote the efficacy of democracy. He also edits the Political Psychology Bulletin for members of the British Psychological Society Political Psychology Section. Ashley has worked at the University of Salford since 2000, leading the establishment of the Psychology Department for six years and has been Staff Well-being Lead for the School of Health and Society since 2018.

Teaching and Learning I lead the final year undergraduate option in Occupational Psychology and co-lead the second year Social Psychology module. I also teach on undergraduate modules in the areas of Individual Differences, Psychology in Contemporary Contexts and the Psychology of Mental Health and in research methods at postgraduate level.
