Mrs Elaine Washington

Biography Elaine joined the University of Salford in June 2000 as a lecturer in Prosthetics. Prior to this she worked as a senior prosthetist at Manchester Disablement Services Centre where she specialised in the prosthetic care of those who had undergone lower limb amputations. Elaine completed an HND in Prosthetics and Orthotics and Diploma in Prosthetics to allow her to practice and a degree and masters in Psychology. Her masters looked at the experience of those undergoing amputation due to diabetes and peripheral vascular disease. Elaine also completed the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PgCAP).
Teaching and Learning • Trans-tibial prosthetics including service user assessment, socket
theory, componentry/ prescription gait evaluation and adjustment.
