Biography I Studied at Lancaster University, where I did my BA in Theatre Studies, MA in Contemporary Theatre Practice and PhD in Visuality in Film and Theatre. I also taught at Lancaster, directed student productions and toured with my own theatre group before joining Salford as a full-time lecturer in 2001. Currently, alongside my role as Subject Head for Performance, I teach undergraduate and postgraduate students, undertake PhD supervision and my own research in contemporary performance.
Research Interests My research falls into the areas of Contemporary Performance and Postdramatic Theatre. Most recently, I have published a paper exploring Stanislavsky’s performance methodology in the context of postdramatic theatre. I also co-edited an on-line handbook for devising postdramatic theatre – Making Postdramatic Theatre - published by Digital Theatre Plus (2018) and am currently working on an extended edition.
Teaching and Learning I currently lead the Performance team as Subject Group Head.

I lead the final year Theatre Project module, which culminates in Debut: a festival of performance, showcasing the work of our final year students on Theatre and Performance, Technical Theatre and Comedy Writing and Performance.

I also lead and teach on the third-year module New Trends in Theatre & Performance, teach first years on Performance in Context, deliver lectures and workshops on other modules at MA and BA level, and supervise final year Research Projects.
