Dr Andreea Koreanschi
Biography | I am a Senior Lecturer specialized in Aircraft Design and Aerodynamics, with a focus on conventional and morphing technologies. I obtained my PhD from Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Montreal, Canada, with the thesis title Numerical And Experimental Validation Of The Optimization Methodologies For A Wing-Tip Structure Equipped With Conventional And Morphing Ailerons. During my PhD I conducted research in collaboration with Bombardier Canada, Thales Canada, Alenia Aeronautica and University of Napoli for the design, manufacturing and testing of an active morphing wing and aileron system. As a researcher I have published, as lead or collaborator, 31 papers in reviewed journals and conference proceedings. As an academic I have served as programme leader for two of oour programmes, BEng/MEng Aeronautical Engineering and BEng/MEng Aircraft Engineering with Pilot Studies. I have led and contributed to the accreditation of these programmes by the Royal Aeronautical Society. I currently serve as board member on the Engineering Professors' Council, as the university representative. I am the Chair for the Aerospace Community for the same organization and co-organizer of the RAeS-EPC Forum for Aerospace Academics. |

Research Interests | My research is centred around optimization, simulation and design of solutions for aeronautical challenges, be they industry or educational related. I am interested to collaborate accross disciplines to develop research ideas and projects. I have knowledge, skills and interest in the following topics: - aerodynamic optimization for low and high speed flows - aircraft design for urban applications (UAV and UAM included) -aircraft design for rural applications (UAV and UAM included) - impact of UAM and UAV on urban environment and development - educational virtual reality applications I am open to other topics as well, particularly if multidisciplinary or cross-disciplinary in nature. |
Teaching and Learning | As an academic, I have served as programme leader for two of oour programmes, BEng/MEng Aeronautical Engineering and BEng/MEng Aircraft Engineering with Pilot Studies. I have led and contributed to the accreditation of these programmes by the Royal Aeronautical Society. I am module leader for the second and third years Aircraft Design Enterprise E2, Aircraft Design Enterprise E3, co-lead for the Aircraft System Design E3 and the module leade for the third year Aerodynamics module. I am interested in continously developing my teaching style, which can be best described as a blend of conventional transmission of information with flipped class and project-based learning. I enjoy being at the front of the class and collaborate with the students to develop and improve the content and assessments of the modules I lead. |
