Project Description This thesis investigates the conceptualization, implementation, and effectiveness of wellness questionnaires in monitoring athlete responses to training and gameplay, with a specific focus on rugby league. Through four studies, it examines their use across high-performance sports, identifies key factors influencing implementation, develops and validates a new rugby league-specific wellness questionnaire, and explores its practical application in conjunction with training load data. Findings highlight the importance of customisation, stakeholder buy-in, and ecological fit for successful implementation. The thesis culminates in the development of the Successful Implementation Framework, offering a structured guide for practitioners to optimize wellness questionnaire use in high-performance sport.
