Ms Antonia Wood

Biography Dr Toni Wood joined the University of Salford as a PhD student and was awarded her Phd in 2015. Toni is the programme leader for the MSc Criminal Justice: People and Processes programme, and alongside this has taught and led modules on the Foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Toni is also the Social Science Directorate Lead for Learning and Teaching. Toni’s PhD explored the working lives of female prison officers and she continues to research in this area, currently focusing on prison staff experiences of menopause in the prison. Toni is interested in PhD supervision around prison officers and the wider field of prison, prisoners and desistance.
Research Interests My research interests focus on offending behaviour and prison. More specifically, the working lives of prison officers, occupational culture in the prison, vulnerable offenders and pathways to offending bahaviour, health and wellbeing of prisoners and prison staff, menopause in the prison.
Teaching and Learning I am the Social Science Directorate Lead for Learning and Teaching, currently focusing on embedding UDL into all taught programmes across the Directorate.
I am the Programme Lead for the MSc Criminal Justice: People and Processes programme.
I am the Module Lead for the MSc Deconstructing Criminal Justice module and the BSc Prisons and Punishment module.
I also teach on the following undergraduate modules Gender Crime and Criminal Justice; Contemporary Challenges in Crime and Society; Social Justice in Action.
