Project Title Why do we need to embed ourselves in practice? A review of the literature considering the need to experience mindfulness practice and have a regular practice to teach MBCT/MBSR
Project Description This thesis focuses on understanding the literature around the need for MBCT/MBSR group ‘teachers’ to be embedded in their own cultivated practice and experience in order to effectively facilitate and ‘hold’ the group, a suggestion is of the teacher being able to embody mindfulness through cultivated practice. Crane & Kuyken et al (2013) talk to the need to have some kind of rating scale to benchmark MBCT/MBSR skills (MBI-TAC). The domain proposed in the MBI-TAC of embodiment will be discussed. A narrative review of the literature considers the role of embodiment and competence and its link to outcome in Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBIs).
The aim of this narrative review is to offer some perspective on the question of training and experience. Some recommendations for clinical practice are provided. A reflection from a narrative perspective considers personal and professional implications for the author as an NHS employee running a MBCT/MBSR clinical service

Project Title A Survey based study of therapists’ experience of CBT outcome in cases of recurrent depression
Project Description The general aim of this study is to explore the complex series of reasons that may account for interventions used in CT (Cognitive Therapy) with MDD(R) (Major Depressive Disorder (recurrent)). What the researcher would attempt to do is to find out what influences treatment choices in MDD(R), also the researcher would aim to ask about knowledge of interventions and practicalities associated with MDD(R) to highlight knowledge of diagnosis specific interventions, and considerations in therapy, with the hope that this could inform practice, and also help understand why therapists use certain interventions.
