I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1998 and worked clinically until 2005, specialising in adult neurology. Since then, I have taught on undergraduate Physiotherapy programmes, first at Salford, then at Huddersfield from 2014 to 2019, before returning to Salford.
In 2018, I was awarded a PhD by published works, focussing on orthotic interventions for foot drop of central neurological origin. As part of this research, I conducted two systematic reviews comparing ankle-foot orthoses to functional electrical stimulation, which have since been included in UK and US clinical guidelines.
Beyond my PhD, I have published pedagogical work on reflective practice and team-based learning.
Postdoctorally, I continue to teach undergraduate Physiotherapy across all levels. In line with my ongoing research interests in health promotion and behaviour change, I lead a Level 5 module dedicated to these topics. My research involves collaborative work with academic as well as health and social care sector partners, with a focus on implementation science approaches and I supervise learners from level 7 and above in these areas.
