Biography Dr Qurashi joined the University of Salford in 2021 having been a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Sociology at Staffordshire University (2018-2021) and a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Canterbury Christ Church University (2014-2018). Dr Qurashi has led and taught on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Sociology, Criminology, Religious Studies, and Terrorism Studies. He acquired Fellowship of the HEA in 2016 and membership of the Teaching and Learning Academy in 2017. Dr Qurashi has extensive mentoring experience and leads the Criminology/Sociology Peer Mentor Scheme. He is also the Sociology and Criminology EDI Champion. Dr Qurashi has a PhD in Sociology (Kent) and conducts research in the areas of Political Islam, Islamophobia, Race and Racism, Counterterrorism, Radicalisation, Surveillance, Crime, Imprisonment, Ethnography, and Religious Revivalism. He sits on the editorial board for the International Journal of Criminology and Sociology and is a Research Director at the Ayaan Institute thinktank.
