Dr Darryl Humble
| Biography | Darryl is currently the Deputy Director of Social Sciences at the University of Salford. His research has a specific focus on the sociology of development and social research methods scholarship. He is an interdisciplinary scholar with research interests in establishing encounters-based approaches in sociology and social research; NGOs (including how they learn, construct work and change over time); ethnography and visual research methods, and the application of social research methods in practice settings. Darryl’s research and outreach work is focused on enabling others through co-production, capacity building and participatory approaches to enabling change. Darryl’s teaching expertise is focused on international development practice (through the work of civil society organisations), understanding globalisation (with an emphasis experiences, conflict and inequalities), and teaching applied and innovative qualitive research methods. Darryl was awarded Senior Fellowship of the UK’s Higher Education Academy in 2016 and was awarded a European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship in June 2020. He is currently is a visiting academic at the University of Kerala in India. |
