Biography I grew up in the countryside in Southeast Brazil (one of the most biodiverse regions on our planet) and have always been fascinated by animals and nature. I graduated in Biological Sciences in 2007 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas), Brazil, where I also obtained my MSc in Zoology (2011). It was during my MSc that I started to research the effects of sound pollution on wildlife. After my MSc, I did a PhD in Ecology researching the effects of noise pollution on animal communication at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (2011-2015). During my PhD I spent several months conducting soundscape analysis at the Department of Basic and Foundation Science, University of Urbino, Italy.

From 2011-2023 I worked as Coordinator of the Laboratory of Bioacoustics at the Museum of Natural Sciences at PUC Minas. During this period, I also taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses, conducted fieldwork and supervised students (BSc, MSc and PhD). My research was conducted with the participation of students and has involved most animal groups that produce sounds such as insects, fishes, amphibians, birds and mammals (especially, primates).

In August 2023, I moved to the UK to work as a University Fellow at the University of Salford, Manchester conducting research in environmental pollution, specifically noise pollution effects on wildlife.
