Biography I am current a lecturer of Biomedical Science teaching across the levels.

I started my career in academia by studying for a BSc in Physiology at The University of Liverpool graduating with a 1st in 2012. Following this, i remained at the University of Liverpool to complete a MRes in Clinical Science and progressing through to a PhD in pathophysiology which was awarded in 2017.

I continued my research career at the Tommys research centre within St Marys hospital, Manchester where i was investigating how and why some babies do not grow sufficiently through world leading work in placental physiology. This study utilised a multidisciplinary approach to understanding oxygen transfer and metabolism in the human placenta using ex vivo perfusion approaches, advanced imaging techniques and mathematical modelling.

Following this research position, i joined the University of Chester in 2019 as a lecturer of physiology within Chester Medical School and programme leader for BMedSci Medical Science. During my teaching career here i was instrumental in the development of student pathways through to clinical programmes and roles like Physicians Associate and Graduate Entry Medicine and developed novel teaching practices to engage and excite students.

During this time i continued to research maternal and fetal health whilst becoming a leading figure within endocrinology with mentions in national media outlets. In addition, I have sat on a number of government sessions and documents calling for greater attention for maternal health.

I have moved to the University of Salford to continue to expand my expertise in the physiology of pregnancy and in maternal and fetal health particularly around breast feeding through my collaboration with the North West Human Milk Bank. This is complemented by my roles on national and international charities including being the Theme lead for Endocrinology for the Physiological Society.

I remain an active supporter of student wellbeing and also a qualified mental health first aider.
