IBIC Relationship Development Scheme: Bridging the gap between lab and clinical trials in wound healing biotechnology - a relationship building project

People Involved

Project Description

Pilot project to build relationships with new Biotech company - Bright Biotech who are looking for academic partners to address the current gaps in wound-healing technologies. This starter project will monopolise on knowledge and skills within Salford Biomedical Innovation Centre, specifically in cell culture and microbiology, applying the new cutting edge Bioflux and microscopy equipment to evaluate the efficacy of novel treatments in wound healing that are under development at Bright Biotech. The work will establish optimised protocols to determine cellular level effects on transformed human skin cells under realistic infection conditions. Preliminary data will be used to apply for further funding for a KTP with Bright Biotech to develop novel wound treatment applications. The follow on funds will broaden the involvement of Salford researchers in physical chemistry, physiology, biotechnology and health.
