Abstract

This snapshot introduces an intermedial Practice as Research (PaR) project, exploring the intersections between live media practice, disability and health. As part of this collaborative work, we are seeking to discover new ways of formulating and expressing Deirdre’s autobiographical and phenomenological experience of temporal lobe epilepsy through improvised events, created using the tools of Jo’s live media practice. In such events, Deirdre’s lived experience of the condition and its treatment emerges through combinations of text, movement, sound and image, generating a ‘medical dramaturgy’, which reflects, refracts and responds to the real time experience of living with disability.
