Abstract

Query uses questions from pop songs as prompts for the improvised creation of intermediality through the real time mixing of sound, image, object and body. Each ‘experiencer’ has the opportunity to trigger a query, which acts as a prompt for the performer-activator’s creation of an intermedial space. Experiencers are invited to engage in this act of creation and/or simply be present. Through the act of intermedial improvisation, Query aims to offer the ‘lively’ media in the space as an active presence, generating a playful and interrogative site of emergence.
