Abstract

Drawing on the findings of the POCARIM study of 13 countries, this paper explores the experiences of social science and humanities doctorate holders as they make the transition from early-career post-doctoral researchers to fully-fledged independent scholars. It outlines some of the challenges facing these researchers, and at the ways in which policies have been or could be designed to address these issues.
