Abstract
This paper looks at the way in which textile mills have been excavated in the UK since 1992, reviewing the techniques involved and the research outcomes through three case studies form the Manchester city region. It proposes a research framework for recording and excavating the textile mill around the issues of undertsanding manufacturing processes, landscape impacts and social meaning.
