Abstract

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has undergone significant digital transformation driven by strategies like Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the UAE's National Innovation Strategy. This shift has advanced sectors such as energy, finance, healthcare, and transportation, making the GCC a hub for technological innovation and smart city development. However, the increasing reliance on digital technologies has heightened cybersecurity risks, including data breaches, ransomware, phishing, and advanced persistent threats (APTs). These threats pose significant risks to critical infrastructure and societal stability, exacerbated by regional conflicts and state-sponsored cyber activities. This chapter explores cybersecurity challenges and strategies within the GCC, emphasizing the need for robust measures. Key strategies include adopting comprehensive frameworks, enhancing governance, fostering regional collaboration, and investing in education and training. Addressing these challenges can enhance the GCC's cybersecurity resilience and ensure long-term digital protection.
