Abstract

The recent conflict in Ukraine has disrupted higher education, making continued professional development (CPD) a challenge due to displacement of educators, internet disruption, and limited access to resources. In response, the University of Salford Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre collaborated with colleagues at the State University of Trade and Economics (Kiev, Ukraine) to share experience, practice and resources.

Together, we developed a comprehensive guide with a complete set of learning resources supporting reflection and development of pedagogic practice in learning design, teaching, assessment, feedback, vocational and technical education, and learning technologies. This resource was unveiled at an online launch event in September 2023 to 38 staff at our partner institution. A year later, we have begun to assess the impact of this resource. Interviews, meetings, and surveys have revealed how these resources were adapted to local needs and priorities to influenced the student experience and facilitated self-reflection and professional development despite the challenging circumstances.

This presentation highlighted the impact of this global partnership through the inspiring professional development stories which have emerged. It demonstrates the resilience of academic communities in adversity, the power of shared knowledge and how these resources have supported necessary changes in practice amidst post-pandemic and conflict disruption.
