Empowering Global Majority Nurses: Launch of Leadership Mentoring and Coaching Series
Feb 23, 2025

Summary The University of Salford is proud to launch the Global Majority Leadership Mentoring and Coaching Workshop Series, led by Dr. Suryia Nayak and Victory Chidinma Oforji. This program is designed to empower ethnically minoritized nursing professionals by offering structured mentorship, coaching, and leadership development.

The series aims at breaking systemic barriers and glass ceilings for the global majority of nurses. It focuses on boosting confidence, enhancing leadership potential, and preparing participants for future roles in healthcare and higher education. Participants will gain access to networking opportunities, guest lecturing, simulation workshops, and exposure to higher education recruitment, helping them prepare for leadership certification courses.

This initiative will lead to increased representation of ethnically minoritized nurses in leadership roles, enhanced mentorship networks, and greater access to leadership training and higher education engagement as well as enable these nurses to lead inclusive and diverse patient care. It also fosters awareness of systemic challenges, equipping participants with strategies to navigate and overcome them as they rise in their careers.
