Mrs Chidinma Victory Oforji
Biography | Victory is a lecturer in adult nursing, a module lead within the Masters of Art pre-registration nursing and the nursing and midwifery directorate EDI champion. With over a decade of nursing experience within acute and emergency nursing and clinical education across different geographical regions starting from Nigeria, The Republic of Ireland and the UK. Victory is passionate about improving the quality of patient care, patient safety and work place equality and diversity. This she aimed to achieve through nursing innovation, research, supporting students in practice and facilitating a decolonized curriculum. Previous experiences lies within practice education particularly specializes in internationally educated nursing education in preparation for the NMC Objective Structured Clinical Examination, Charge Nurse in the Acute Medical Unit, Emergency Department senior nurse, orthopedic staff nurse, and clinical lead in general health and maternal and child health care. Victory Served as a Freedom To Speak Up National Guardian facilitating increased patient safety and inclusivity in nursing practice through working as a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic lead for the Northern Care Alliance NHS trust. Victory has led a plethora of small and large projects inclusive of experience sharing on an inclusive curriculum, Introducing and developing a feedforward feedback tool kit both in clinical practice and practice education to promote positive feedback in practice for both student and qualified nurses, blog documentary on 'Inclusivity: Easier said than done' for Queen Margaret University and on "Speaking up for patient safety by Minority group staff" for the Northern Care Alliance. Victory's experiences and interest in equality and diversity has led to several projects, which includes; An auto-ethnographic study on "Co-modifying Diversity in Higher education" , "Co-developing a CPD module on Unintentional discrimination in our curriculum through Podcasting", the "SWAB" project (Student-led Wellbeing and Academic Buddy), The CARE Project: Anti-racism project in nursing Ireland, Co-production of the EDI chatter the University of Salford and Co-development of the "CRIBS" Projects (Cultural awareness and competence, Religious Ideologies, Belief system and Spirituality) in Nursing practice. Victory has been recognized as part of a team for the nursing times award for pastoral support 2023, and has recently been awarded the Diversity and Inclusion awards for Global Diabetes Initiatives Ireland and UK and Nursing times Nursing Workforce Awards finalist for diversity and inclusion champion.
