Dr Simon Connor
Biography | Simon Connor is an artist-researcher, educator, composer & sound designer based in Manchester UK. His main interests are exploring the boundaries between sound design and composition, merging found sound, field recordings and traditional instrumentation. Simon mainly works in sound and music for film, and for gallery based installations. Examples of work can be found via simonconnor.co.uk His work has been featured on BBC Radio 3, and collaborative film projects have been screened/performed internationally, including CPH DOX (CPH), DOKU Arts Festival (DE), FILAF International Art Book and Film Festival (FR), Alte Schmiede (AT) Flatpack Festival (UK), the ICA London (UK) . |

Research Interests | My research interests lie within sound design and composition for moving image, creative explorations of spatial audio, and sonic approaches to place, landscape and environment. |
Teaching and Learning | I currently lead UG modules in 'Audio for Media' (incoprorating sound & music for film, podcasts and video games) for Level 5 and Level 6 students. I also lead our MA Music module 'Immersive & Interactive Sonic Experiences,' which explores creative applications of spatial audio in compostions and installation work. I also lecture on the 'Studio Composition' modules at Level 5 & 6 ( exploring studio practices and technologies to create music). |
