Biography I work as a lecturer on the BA and MA Film Production courses, specialising in experimental film, directing fiction, and innovative filmmaking practices. My research focuses on advancing cinema as a unique form of art and storytelling by synthesising creative practice-as-research, philosophical concepts, and an innovative application of traditional methods and cutting-edge information and communication technologies.

I completed my AHRC-funded practice research PhD at Salford with a project entitled Affective Cinema, which focused on experimentation with innovative approaches to storytelling, cinematography and directing actors, while generating a unique synthesis of practice and theory. The research resulted in a feature-length series of 12 short films and won the Award in Creative Media Research from the International Journal of Creative Media Research, where it was also published. As an independent filmmaker, I have written and directed several dramas and experimental projects, and worked as a freelance cinematographer in London.

I also worked as a director/producer on a research project The Living Room of the Future with BBC R&D and the British Council, and have taken part in various artistic residencies and collaborations, including the Visual Research Network and the Sidney Nolan Trust Residency Group, as well as a six month AHRC-funded residency at FACT in Liverpool. My work has been widely exhibited, published and presented, including the Grosvenor Gallery in Manchester and the Stephen Lawrence Gallery in London; elements of the Affective Cinema practice were also screened at the Victoria & Albert Museum as part of the Living Room of the Future project.
