Mrs Katherine Harkin

Biography Katie Harkin, is a versatile musician, producer and songwriter known for her dynamic presence in the indie rock scene and beyond. She first gained recognition as the vocalist and guitarist for the Leeds band Sky Larkin. Over the years, Katie has expanded her musical repertoire by collaborating and touring with several notable artists and bands, including Courtney Barnett, Waxahatchee, Sleater-Kinney, Low and Wild Beasts. Her live work has taken her worldwide to over 30 countries, performing at venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Glastonbury, Pitchfork Festival Chicago and SXSW.

In addition to her band work, Katie has released two solo albums under the name Harkin, showcasing her talent as a solo artist and producer. Her contributions to the music industry extend beyond performing; she has also composed music for Turner Prize-winning artist Helen Marten and British comedian Josie Long. Katie’s versatility is further highlighted by her appearance as a backing singer for Dua Lipa on Saturday Night Live in 2018.

Harkin is also an academic. In 2019, her article 'Digital Strains' was published in The RSA Journal (The Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce).
