| Biography | Ozah holds a bachelor’s degree in law (LLB. Hons), a BL from the Nigerian Law School, and LLM in Oil, Gas & Renewable Law with Distinction from the Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He is called to the Nigerian Bar to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and a qualified Solicitor and Notary Public in Scotland. In legal practice he has been involved in litigation, advisory and consultancy, especially in relation to various procurement and commercial contractual arrangements including, legal documentation drafting, review, and negotiation of many oil & gas service contracts and landmark power electricity projects. He was in an Environmental and Energy Law Practice team in a law firm that has provided expert advice on environmental legal issues. He has also advised governments and NGOs on the development of environmental policies and regulations relating to pollution from oil and gas exploration and production. He has also advised multinational oil companies and host communities on natural resource benefit management, and host community’s relationship. In academics, he has taught and assessed students in several law modules including Delict & Unjustified Enrichment, Insurance Law, Civil Procedure, Company Law, Law of Contract, Business Law, Commercial and Consumer Contracts, Equity and Trusts, and Energy Law. He has served as Editor-in-Chief and Consulting Editor for a peer reviewed law journal available in hardcopy and online (HeinOnline and Westlaw), and equally served as a Co-Editor, Copy Editor, and Peer Reviewer for an interdisciplinary postgraduate journal. Prior to academics, he was an Attorney in charge of legal services in a multinational upstream energy servicing company, overseeing that portfolio in Nigeria and West Africa. During which time he was responsible for advising the company concerning simple, moderate, and complex legal issues relating to oilfield services regulatory compliance, standards, and due diligence; local content requirements/compliance; bribery, corruption, and money laundering; and to everyday business activities. He has drafted, reviewed, and negotiated risk allocation in oilfield service contracts for several onshore, swamp, and offshore projects. He is interested in teaching and research relating to the principles of environmental law, energy law, renewable energy law, environmental aspects of energy law, natural resource governance, climate change, energy transition, decarbonisation, and decommissioning of disused oil and gas infrastructure. His doctoral research was on the environmental aspects of energy law examining the legal, policy and regulatory frameworks for decommissioning disused offshore oil and gas infrastructure. |
