Understanding the experiences of advance care planning from the perspectives of family carers for those living with kidney failure: Co-production workshops.

Description	People with kidney failure (KF) have poor outcomes yet are less likely to make an advance care plan (ACP) and receive end-of-life care. ACP helps people discuss goals and preferences for future treatment with family and clinicians. Although ACP improves patient care by avoiding unnecessary treatments and hospital admissions, recent research suggests that family carers have specific needs such as, emotional support, information about death and dying, respite care and bereavement support. Further research is essential to develop a deeper understanding of the experiences of family carers of people with KF to improve ACP and inform interventions to meet these needs.
