Abstract

Conducting performance given with the Brighouse & Rastrick Band at the RNCM Festival of Brass 2010. This is part of an International Festival at the RNCM, attracting many overseas visitors. The concerts are performed by the leading and most prominent UK bands, along with International soloists and guest featured international composers. A number of significant premieres are also featured in the Festival. Premiered in my concert was James MacMillan's 'Gallant Weaver' (arr Hindmarsh) and Leigh Baker's 'The Battle of Bosworth Field'. Also given was the UK premiere of James Curnow's 'Ellacombe Chronicles' (Curnow is a significant US composer). Also performed with the composer present, was Bruce Broughton's 'California Legend'. As well as being a brass composer Broughton is a leading US film and TV composer with many EMMY awards and Academy nominations.
