Abstract
This paper situates the Jews into the broader context of King John's reign. Instead of treating them as a separate group, it argues that, broadly speaking, the experience of the Jews not dissimilar to that of many other groups. This builds upon work has been done in recent years on the Exchequer. Equally, it explores the aftermath of the Magna Carta rebellion, John's death, and the accession of Henry III to argue that, during these years, Anglo-Jewry was at it's most politically powerful.
