Abstract

Music video co-produced for the rearrangement of "I Thought It Was You" and "The Bomb" by Herbie Hancock.

"I Thought It Was You" is a masterclass in merging Jazz, Fusion, Funk and Modern synthesiser techniques, still replicated to this day. The second track, "The Bomb", is a straight-up Funky hit out of the 80s funk scrapbook. This remake features the signature Herbie Rhodes and synth work and funky bass lines throughout – as well as a sprinkling of contemporary Jazz genius from our special guest, Gwilym Simcock.

The idents serve as a reimagination and re-contextualisation through the means of two creatives (Adelina Court and Paul Robinson) collaborating remotely. The music video itself features bespoke rearrangement which has been book-ended with experimental animation produced during a 2-year period in which the visual artist (Adelina Court) learnt animation techniques in Adobe After Effects and aimed to put them in practice on music video.
