A collaborative team from Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Salford University, with extensive research experience, would like to express their interest in undertaking research focused on women with a raised BMI to contribute to supporting actions from the GMEC LMNS Equity and Equality action plan.
Aims of the project
• To better understand the demographic characteristics of women living with a raised BMI living in Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire.
• To explore the local social determinants of health, barriers and facilitators to achieving a healthy weight/ healthy pregnancy planning.
• To co-define and design a pilot intervention that can be delivered in the future with an aim to support non- pregnant women to achieve a healthy weight and ensure healthy pregnancy
planning (pre-conception).
• To determine a strategy to identify funds to pilot the intervention for acceptability and feasibility
